Anti-Wrinkle Injections & Wrinkle Relaxers Perth

Introduction To Wrinkle Relaxers

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Ageing is a natural process that happens to everyone and in every part of our bodies. As part of the ageing process, the texture and condition of our skin will change, with one of the noticeable changes being the formation of wrinkles on our face. This is where anti-wrinkle injections, also referred to as wrinkle relaxers, can help.

The wrinkles on our face can be either dynamic or static. Dynamic lines are those wrinkles caused by muscle contractions from facial expressions such as squinting and frowning. These lines are not permanent when we are younger as our skin produces sufficient collagen for the skin to bounce back after each expression. As we get older, it is harder for the skin to bounce back and the dynamic wrinkles will slowly become more permanent, eventually transforming into static lines.

At The Lime Tree Clinic in Perth, our doctor and cosmetic injector only use approved anti-wrinkle injections, also referred to as wrinkle relaxers, to treat these wrinkle lines with exceptional skills to perform the procedure at high-quality standards. Frequently Asked Questions

Anti-wrinkle injections, or wrinkle relaxers, are medicines and are available as different brands, but are all composed of a natural, sterile and purified high molecular protein extracted from specific bacteria. Due to legal requirements of medical practice in Australia, the actual name of the injections cannot be disclosed here.

When injected into the skin locally, the target underlying muscles are relaxed by blocking the nerve pulses that tell the muscles to contract. Once the muscles can no longer contract, the skin flattens, eventually smoothing existing wrinkles as well as preventing the formation of new ones.

Wrinkle relaxers are safe as long as the substance is injected properly at the right dosage, in a sterile environment as well as administered by a qualified health practitioner.

Nevertheless, there are small risks involved with this procedure which are usually temporary and restricted to the treated areas. They include bruising, drooping of the eyelids, headache, redness of the injection site and muscle soreness.

The age at which to start anti-wrinkle injection treatments can vary greatly from person to person and you should take into account your skin and personal skin concerns when deciding.

As we get older, the repeated use of our facial muscles and loss of collagen and elastin in the skin means we form firm lines and creases when making facial expressions. Through the use of wrinkle relaxers, we can reduce expression lines and delay how long it takes for static or firm lines to form on our face.

Anti-wrinkle injection treatment can also be started once static lines have already formed and you’re looking for facial rejuvenation and a fresher look.

Here at our Perth clinic, the most commonly treated areas we treat with wrinkle relaxers are the lines across the forehead, crow’s feet (lines next to your eyes), and the glabella (frown lines between the eyes).
Other areas that we can treat with wrinkle relaxer injections include:

  • Eyebrow area
  • Downturned mouth
  • Bunny lines
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Mental crease
  • Jawline/ Masseter

The treatment process of wrinkle relaxers at our Perth clinic involves multiple shallow injections which takes about 10-15 minutes and has no downtime. Before the procedure, our qualified cosmetic injectors will assess and review the movement of your face muscles to determine the treatment areas.

Once assessed, the treatment areas will be marked and cleansed using antiseptic solutions. A very fine needle is then used to inject the medicine into the selected area. You may experience slight discomfort, like the sting of an ant for a few seconds. Numbing cream can be used before treatment if you have a low tolerance to discomfort.

Since the 1970s, the use of wrinkle relaxers, or anti-wrinkle injections, in the treatment of medical conditions outside of cosmetic treatments has been well documented and is supported by strong medical evidence of its effectiveness. Some conditions that can be treated include:

  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Cervical Dystonia
  • Blepharospasm – uncontrollable blinking
  • Strabismus – malaligned eyes
  • Chronic Migraines
  • Overactive Bladder
  • Cerebral Palsy

Immediately after the anti-wrinkle injection, there may be redness, swelling, tenderness and itching. Avoid scratching, massaging or picking around the injection site. This is normal and generally disappears within a few hours. If the symptoms persist for more than 3 days, please contact us.
After receiving your wrinkle relaxer treatment at our Perth clinic, you should avoid the following activities:

  • Do not drink alcohol or complete strenuous exercise as it may result in additional bruising
  • Avoid exposure to intense heat that can affect the treated areas. This include sauna, sunbathing, tanning or sports under direct sunlight.
  • Sunscreen and makeup can be applied, and the area can be gently washed with a gentle cleanser after 4 hours.

The results of the wrinkle relaxers you received at our Perth clinic start to become evident after 2 to 3 days and reach its maximum effect in 2 weeks. Just as the results gradually kick in, the effect of the injection will gradually fade as well. In general, the injections can last somewhere between 3 to 5 months, depending on the individual and the location of injections.

When the muscle regains its function over time, the wrinkles and lines will reappear again, though usually softer than before the injections, and another treatment is required to maintain your desired results.

At The Lime Tree Clinic in Perth, we charge by the area for our wrinkle relaxer treatments. We do not charge by the unit because we take pride in ensuring the treatment you receive achieves your desired results without cutting corners. Our cosmetic injectors will always ensure you receive the highest level of care and precision during your treatment and also are equipped with artistic finesse and take the time to understand your unique needs.

If the desired result is not achieved, we will review the treated areas at two weeks and top-up the treatment if required at no cost.
