Advanced Treatments for Body Skin Laxity

Restore Firmer, Smoother Body Skin

At The Lime Tree Clinic, we offer a range of advanced non-surgical treatments designed to improve the appearance of loose, crepey or ageing skin and address some of the underlying factors that can contribute to body skin laxity.

Changes in the appearance of the abdomen, arms, thighs and other areas of the body can occur with ageing, pregnancy, weight loss, weight fluctuations and changes in body composition. However, what appears to be “loose skin” is not always caused by the skin alone

Depending on the individual, the appearance of laxity may be influenced by:

  • Skin – reduced collagen and elastin can result in thinner, looser or crepey-looking skin.
  • Fat – localised fatty deposits can affect the contours of an area and contribute to a softer or less defined appearance.
  • Connective tissues – changes to the structures supporting the skin and underlying tissues can contribute to laxity.
  • Muscle – reduced muscle tone or changes to the abdominal muscles, particularly following pregnancy, can affect the firmness and shape of an area.

For this reason, achieving the best outcome starts with identifying which structures are contributing to your individual concern. A treatment designed to stimulate collagen may be appropriate when skin laxity is the primary issue, while concerns involving fat or muscle may require a completely different approach.

In some cases, a combination of treatments may be recommended to target different tissue layers. Depending on your concerns, treatment options may include:

  • Crepey Skin Collagen Treatment – designed to improve skin quality and stimulate collagen production from within.
  • Morpheus8 Body – combines microneedling and radiofrequency energy to support collagen remodelling and improve skin texture and firmness.
  • Forma RF Body – uses radiofrequency energy to support collagen production and improve skin elasticity.
  • Ultherapy Prime Body – uses focused ultrasound technology to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production for gradual improvement in skin firmness.
  • Emsculpt NEO – combines radiofrequency and high-intensity electromagnetic energy to simultaneously target muscle and fat, making it particularly useful when body contour concerns extend beyond the skin itself.

Can Loose Skin Tighten Naturally?

It depends on the cause and severity of the skin laxity. Mild skin laxity may improve over time, particularly in younger skin with healthy collagen levels. However, as we age, collagen and elastin production naturally declines, making it more difficult for the skin to regain its firmness on its own. Advanced collagen-stimulating treatments can help support the skin’s natural regenerative processes and improve the appearance of loose or crepey skin over time.

Body Changes After Pregnancy

Pregnancy can affect several different layers of the abdominal area, which is why post-pregnancy concerns are not always simply a matter of “loose skin”.

The skin and connective tissues stretch to accommodate the growing abdomen, body fat distribution may change and the abdominal muscles can also become stretched and weakened.

Some women may also experience diastasis recti, where the left and right sides of the rectus abdominis muscles separate along the midline during pregnancy. This can contribute to a softer or protruding abdominal appearance even after pregnancy and weight loss.

Where reduced abdominal muscle tone is contributing to the concern, Emsculpt Neo may be considered as part of a personalised treatment plan. Its high-intensity electromagnetic energy induces powerful muscle contractions, while radiofrequency energy simultaneously heats the tissues. This allows treatment to target muscle and fat within the same session.

For suitable patients, strengthening and toning the abdominal muscles may help improve abdominal firmness, definition and overall contour.

However, significant diastasis recti or symptoms such as pain, weakness or functional problems may require assessment by an appropriate medical or physiotherapy professional. Not every post-pregnancy abdominal concern is suitable for cosmetic treatment alone.

When Body Composition Is Contributing to Laxity

In some cases, the appearance of laxity or reduced definition may also be influenced by localised fatty deposits and changes in body composition, rather than skin quality alone.

Where this is contributing to the concern, treatment may need to focus on body contouring alongside, or instead of, skin tightening.

Depending on the individual, options may include healthy diet and lifestyle changes, regular exercise and resistance training, Emsculpt Neo to target muscle tone and localised fatty tissue, or fat-reducing injectable treatments for suitable patients following consultation.

It is important to identify whether the concern is primarily related to the skin, underlying tissue, muscle tone or body composition, as this will determine which treatment or combination of treatments is most appropriate.

Can Loose Skin Tighten Naturally?

It depends on the cause and severity of the laxity.

Mild changes may improve over time, particularly in younger skin with good collagen and elastin levels. Following pregnancy or weight loss, the body may also continue to change over time.

However, collagen and elastin production naturally declines with age, making it more difficult for skin to regain firmness on its own. Where reduced collagen is contributing to the concern, treatments that stimulate the body’s natural collagen production may help improve skin quality and the appearance of laxity over time.

If muscle tone, fat or changes to the underlying connective tissues are contributing to the appearance, skin tightening alone may not provide the desired result.

What Is the Best Non-Surgical Treatment for Loose Skin?

There isn’t one treatment that is right for everyone because body laxity can have several different underlying causes.

The most appropriate treatment depends on the area being treated, your skin quality, body composition, muscle tone, anatomy and the severity and cause of the concern.

During your consultation, our experienced cosmetic doctors, nurses and dermal therapists will assess the area and determine whether the primary concern relates to the skin, fat, underlying tissues, muscle, or a combination of these factors.

From there, we can recommend a personalised treatment plan designed to target the areas contributing to your concern. Book your consultation today to discover which body treatment options may be suitable for you.

Body Skin Laxity Treatments

Our Crepey Tummy Skin Treatment is designed specifically for concerns relating to skin quality, crepey texture and laxity across the abdominal area.

The treatment works by stimulating collagen production within the skin, supporting gradual improvements in firmness, texture and overall skin quality. It may be particularly suitable for patients experiencing changes to the abdominal skin following pregnancy, weight loss or ageing.

Results develop gradually as the body’s natural collagen-remodelling processes occur.

Ultherapy Prime uses focused ultrasound energy to target specific tissue depths beneath the skin and stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen.

When used on suitable areas of the body, including the abdomen, treatment may help improve skin firmness and elasticity over time. Improvements develop gradually as new collagen is produced.

Morpheus8 by InMode combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to target different depths within the skin and underlying tissues.

The treatment supports collagen remodelling and may help improve concerns such as skin laxity, crepey texture, stretch marks and uneven skin texture.

Morpheus8 Body can be used on a range of areas including the abdomen, buttocks, thighs and upper arms, with treatment settings selected according to the individual area and concern.

Emsculpt Neo takes a different approach to many traditional skin-tightening treatments because it targets muscle and fat rather than focusing solely on the skin.

The technology combines synchronised radiofrequency energy with high-intensity electromagnetic energy. The electromagnetic energy produces powerful muscle contractions that cannot be achieved through voluntary exercise alone, while radiofrequency energy simultaneously heats the muscle and fat tissues.

For suitable patients, Emsculpt Neo may help strengthen and tone the treated muscles while reducing localised fat, supporting improvements in body contour and definition.

This can make it particularly relevant for abdominal concerns following pregnancy, where reduced muscle tone or changes associated with abdominal muscle separation may be contributing to the appearance of the area.

It can also be incorporated into a combination treatment plan when concerns involve several tissue layers, for example, using Emsculpt Neo to target muscle and fat alongside a collagen-stimulating treatment to address overlying skin laxity.

Forma by InMode uses controlled radiofrequency energy to gently heat targeted layers of the skin.

This thermal energy supports collagen production and remodelling, helping improve skin elasticity, texture and firmness over time.

Forma may be considered for mild to moderate skin laxity on suitable areas of the body where reduced skin firmness is the primary concern.
