Pearl Laser

INTRODUCTION

Pearl Laser

Cutera’s Pearl laser is a skin resurfacing treatment. It is a skin ablative, rejuvenation treatment that aims to treat fine lines, deep wrinkles, uneven texture, acne scarring and sun-damaged skin. It is an intense treatment that requires down time for the growth of new undamaged skin.

How does Pearl Laser work?

The Pearl laser emits specific laser pulses to the top layer of skin, strategically removing old flawed skin. Simultaneously, the deeper layers of the skin are heated to stimulate collagen production. This thermal effect causes a natural protective dressing to be formed on the skin to minimise downtime during the restorative process.

Skin issues treated:

Acne scars
Sun damaged skin
Fine to deep wrinkles
Skin laxity
Pigmentation

Is Pearl treatment safe?

Yes, Cutera’s Pearl laser uses an FDA-approved 2790nm wavelength laser to treat skin imperfections. Medical grade eye protection is necessary and provided during treatment.

How is Pearl laser different from other laser treatments?

Pear laser is by far the most effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discoloration without the complicated and prolonged wound care necessary from certain Erbium or CO2 laser procedures.

Pearl laser offers noticeable results in just one treatment versus 4 - 6 fractionated treatments as is necessary with other laser platforms.

What are the treatment areas of Pearl laser?

The whole face can be treated with Pearl laser, ideally for light to medium skin tones.

The Pearl laser can also be used on other sun-exposed body areas, such as the neck, chest, shoulders, arms and hands, and can remove years of sun damage in one to two sessions. Acne scarred areas such as the face and back are also popular.

What is the procedure for Pearl laser treatment?

The Pearl laser procedure usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. For larger treatment areas, the procedures may take up to an hour to complete.
Prior to performing any procedure, our medically qualified cosmetic team will examine the area in need of treatment to ensure you are a good candidate for Pearl Laser. A skin preparation program may need to be started prior to the laser program to optimise results.

On the day of the treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and laser-protective goggles are placed over your eyes. A topical anaesthetic will be applied on your skin for 30 minutes to increase comfort during the procedure.

During treatment, you may feel some discomfort especially during deeper and more intense treatments. Our treatment team will ensure any discomfort is kept to a minimum.

Pearl laser treatment aftercare

After having the Pearl laser treatment, it is normal for your skin to appear red and slightly swollen. The skin will appear sunburnt. It will also be very dry as the old skin has been removed.

Strict cleanliness is required while the skin heals to prevent any infection. Sun exposure must be avoided. A complimentary aftercare program will be provided to you which will include mild face washes and frequent moisture barrier application to the treatment areas.

Peeling is expected after a few days as the old skin is sloughed off. The skin will heal during the first week and most post-treatment effects will fade or completely resolve by the end of the first week. The staff will closely review your progress until the skin has recovered.

When can I see the treatment result and how long does it last for?

Results are noticeable by day 3 or 4 when the superficial tissue has peeled off, leaving fresh, new, healthy skin underneath. Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment. The results are expected to be long term and will last as long as good skin regime is maintained.

What is the cost of Pearl laser treatments?

Pearl treatment for the entire face is $1100.

Neck treatment can be added on for $400.

Packages of 2 are available.
