Targeted Fat Reduction and Contouring works by breaking down the membrane of fat cells, which then get absorbed by the body and progressively eliminated by the kidneys. It is hard for fat cells to be replaced, so the number of fat cells decrease permanently. It is particularly useful for the reduction of localised pockets of fat.

As with any cosmetic procedure, targeted fat reduction treatments carry potential side effects and risks.

Common side effects may include swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, warmth and discomfort at the treatment site. Swelling can be more noticeable in the first few days following treatment and is an expected part of the treatment process. Less common risks can include infection, temporary numbness, uneven contour or not achieving the desired aesthetic outcome. Targeted Fat Reduction & Contouring treatment is popularly used to reduce the fat cells under the chin that cause a facial condition known as “submental fullness” or commonly described as a double chin. Other common treatment areas include but are not limited to: cheeks, abdomen, thighs, upper arms, love handles, back fat, buttocks.

Targeted Fat Reduction & Contouring is non-surgical, quick and has relatively little down time. Depending on the location and the number of areas to be treated, the whole process generally takes about 30 minutes.

Prior to the procedure, our cosmetic practitioner will assess your medical history and the target treatment area to ensure you are deemed suitable for the treatment. The treated areas will be thoroughly cleansed and marked to enable precise delivery. The treatment area may become warm and red, and you may also experience a tingling sensation. A numbing cream can be applied 20 minutes prior to the procedure to minimise any discomfort during the procedure.

The procedure ends with a soft massage to the treated area for about 5 minutes to enhance the distribution of the solution.

Depending on the individual and the areas treated, visible results can be seen from 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. Depending on the size of the area and the fat thickness, you may need 1 to 4 or more treatments to achieve the desired results. By maintaining a healthy diet and a stable weight, the treatment results are long term.
