Pearl Laser Treatment

Skin Resurfacing, Redefined

Cutera’s Pearl laser is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment available at our Perth clinic. This ablative laser procedure is used to support the improvement of skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and sun-damaged skin. It may also be considered for reducing the appearance of acne scars. Due to the nature of this treatment, some downtime is typically required to allow for skin healing and renewal.

Pearl Laser skin resurfacing works by removing the outer layer of skin, encouraging the growth of new, healthy skin. The heat generated during treatment may also stimulate collagen production, which can help support the skin’s overall appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Pearl Laser emits specific laser pulses to the top layer of skin, strategically removing old flawed skin, making it a suitable option for those looking for laser scar removal in Perth. Simultaneously, the deeper layers of the skin are heated to stimulate collagen production. This thermal effect causes a natural protective dressing to be formed on the skin to minimise downtime during the restorative process.

Pear Laser may benefit from these skin concerns:

  • Scarring
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Fine to deep wrinkles
  • Skin laxity
  • Skin discolouration
All treatments carry risk, our cosmetic practitioner will assess you to see suitability. To reduce any risks as much as possible, we perform the procedure carefully and gently. We are experienced in these procedures, and this further reduce the risks. Cutera’s Pearl Laser uses an FDA-approved 2790nm wavelength laser to treat skin imperfections such as scarring, fine to deep wrinkles and sun damage. At our Perth clinic, medical grade eye protection will be provided during the Pearl Laser skin resurfacing treatment.

Pearl Laser is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment used to support improvements in fine lines, uneven texture, and discolouration. It may also be considered for the treatment of deeper acne scars.

Compared to some other laser procedures, Pearl Laser typically involves less complex wound care. Many individuals find that visible improvements can be achieved with fewer treatment sessions compared to other laser platforms that require multiple fractionated treatments.

Pearl laser skin resurfacing can be performed on the entire face and is generally suited for individuals with light to medium skin tones.

This treatment may also be used on other sun-exposed areas of the body, including the neck, chest, shoulders, arms, and hands. Many people choose Pearl laser to address signs of sun damage over one to two sessions. It is also commonly used on areas affected by acne scarring, such as the face and back.

The Pearl laser procedure usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. For larger treatment areas, the procedures may take up to an hour to complete.
Prior to performing any procedure, our medically qualified cosmetic team will examine the area in need of treatment to ensure you are a good candidate for Pearl Laser skin resurfacing. A skin preparation program may need to be started prior to the laser program to optimise results.

On the day of the treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and laser-protective goggles are placed over your eyes. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin for 30 minutes to increase comfort during the skin resurfacing procedure. During treatment, you may feel some discomfort, especially during deeper and more intense treatments. Our highly skilled treatment team will ensure any discomfort is kept to a minimum throughout your procedure.

After having the Pearl laser treatment, it is normal for your skin to appear red and slightly swollen. The skin will appear sunburnt and will be very dry as the old skin has been removed.

It is important to maintain strict cleanliness while the skin heals to prevent any infection. Sun exposure must be avoided. A complimentary after-care program will be provided to you which will include mild face washes and frequent moisture barrier application to the treatment areas.

Peeling is expected after a few days as the old skin is sloughed off. The skin will heal during the first week and most post-treatment effects will fade or completely resolve by the end of the first week. The staff will closely review your progress until the skin has recovered.

Results from laser skin resurfacing may be noticeable by day 3 or 4 when the superficial tissue has peeled off, leaving fresh, new, healthy skin underneath. Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment. The results are expected to be long term and will last as long as a good skin regime is maintained.
