Frequently Asked Questions

Moles, also medically known as naevi, are caused by a cluster of pigmented cells. Moles can be present as early as at birth, can continue to grow in numbers determined by genetic factors, and often stop growing after age 30. Therefore, any new moles that are formed after age 30 should be brought to the attention of a doctor.

Other lesions such as skin tags, fatty deposits and irregular skin can occur spontaneously or even from minor skin injury and these can be safely removed at The Lime Tree Clinic.

No two moles are identical as they come in different shapes, colours, and texture, therefore, different types of treatments are available to produce the best possible cosmetic results. At The Lime Tree Clinic, we offer the following treatment options for mole removal:

Radiofrequency and curettage – We use the Surgical Pellevé’ device with a special electrode tip to deliver the radiofrequency energy to vaporise the lesion. As it generates minimal heat, the surrounding tissues are not affected, allowing the treated areas to heal effectively with little to no scarring.

Cryotherapy – This is a freezing technique that uses extreme cold temperate produced by liquid nitrogen to destroy the lesions.

Laser and intense light treatment – Our selection of devices at The Lime Tree Clinic can selectively target the pigment or lesion in the skin layer, resulting in a cosmetically pleasing result.

Excision – This is where the skin is anaesthetised, and the concerning lesion is cored or cut out in a method that reduces the size of the scar as much as possible.

We do not offer treatment for cancerous lesions. If your lesion looks suspicious, we will refer you to a specialist for assessment first, prior to scar less treatment at The Lime Tree Clinic.

Yes, we have a range of treatment options for other types of skin lesions such as cherry angiomas, seborrheic keratosis, dermatosis papulose nigra, skin tags, lipomas, infected abscesses and seborrhoiec cysts.

All lesions will be assessed by our doctor to identify the type of skin lesion and the most suitable method to remove it as effectively and as scar free as possible.

All treatments carry risk, our cosmetic practitioner will assess you to see suitability. To reduce any risks as much as possible, we perform the procedure carefully and gently. We are experienced in these procedures, and this further reduce the risks.

At The Lime Tree Clinic you will be in the safest hands, whichever removal method is chosen by you and our cosmetic physician. During your initial consultation, our cosmetic physician will explain the pros and cons of each cosmetic removal method and explain any possible side effects and how to avoid them.

The procedure is typically straightforward and well-tolerated by most clients. After a thorough assessment of the lesions, our cosmetic physician will determine the most suitable removal method, taking into account the nature, size, and elevation of each lesion.

The area will be cleansed, and a small amount of local anaesthetic may be used to help minimise discomfort. Removal techniques are performed with care to preserve surrounding skin and support a cosmetically favourable result.

Treatment duration may vary from 5 to 60 minutes, depending on the number and size of the lesions.

There is little aftercare required for any of the methods, and you can usually resume your normal activities immediately afterwards. You may notice some pinpoint bleeding from the cauterised area, but this is completely normal and can be stop by applying pressure while using bandages. Please follow the aftercare directions provided by the team to ensure minimalisation of scarring.

Some clients may notice visible improvements shortly after treatment, though skin quality can continue to improve gradually over time. In many cases, treated lesions do not return, though outcomes can vary depending on the type of lesion and individual skin response.
