Pearl Laser Skin Resurfacing

INTRODUCTION TO PEARL LASER

Pearl Laser Treatment

Cutera’s Pearl laser is a highly developed laser skin resurfacing treatment available at our Perth clinic. It is a skin ablative, rejuvenation treatment that aims to treat fine lines, deep wrinkles, uneven texture and sun-damaged skin. It can also be used as a laser scar removal treatment for acne scarring. It is an intense treatment that requires downtime for the growth of new undamaged skin. Pearl Laser skin resurfacing works by replacing the entire top layer of the skin with a brand-new undamaged layer of healthy skin. The heat treatment from the Pearl Laser stimulates the production of collagen, helping the new layer of skin to obtain a youthful and healthier appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Pearl Laser emits specific laser pulses to the top layer of skin, strategically removing old flawed skin, making it a suitable option for those looking for laser scar removal in Perth. Simultaneously, the deeper layers of the skin are heated to stimulate collagen production. This thermal effect causes a natural protective dressing to be formed on the skin to minimise downtime during the restorative process.

Yes, Cutera’s Pearl Laser uses an FDA-approved 2790nm wavelength laser to treat skin imperfections such as acne scars, fine to deep wrinkles and sun damage. At our Perth clinic, medical grade eye protection will be provided during the Pearl Laser skin resurfacing treatment.

Pearl Laser is by far the most effective skin resurfacing treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discolouration without the complicated and prolonged wound care necessary from certain Erbium or CO2 laser procedures and it can also be used to treat deep acne scars.
Pearl laser offers noticeable results in just one treatment versus 4 – 6 fractionated treatments as is necessary with other laser treatment platforms.

The whole face can be treated with Pearl laser skin resurfacing and is ideally suited towards light to medium skin tones.

The Pearl laser can also be used on other sun-exposed body areas, such as the neck, chest, shoulders, arms and hands, and can remove years of sun damage in one to two sessions. Treating acne scarred areas such as the face and back are also popular.

The Pearl laser procedure usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. For larger treatment areas, the procedures may take up to an hour to complete.
Prior to performing any procedure, our medically qualified cosmetic team will examine the area in need of treatment to ensure you are a good candidate for Pearl Laser skin resurfacing. A skin preparation program may need to be started prior to the laser program to optimise results.

On the day of the treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and laser-protective goggles are placed over your eyes. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin for 30 minutes to increase comfort during the skin resurfacing procedure. During treatment, you may feel some discomfort, especially during deeper and more intense treatments. Our highly skilled treatment team will ensure any discomfort is kept to a minimum throughout your procedure.

After having the Pearl laser treatment, it is normal for your skin to appear red and slightly swollen. The skin will appear sunburnt and will be very dry as the old skin has been removed.

It is important to maintain strict cleanliness while the skin heals to prevent any infection. Sun exposure must be avoided. A complimentary after-care program will be provided to you which will include mild face washes and frequent moisture barrier application to the treatment areas.

Peeling is expected after a few days as the old skin is sloughed off. The skin will heal during the first week and most post-treatment effects will fade or completely resolve by the end of the first week. The staff will closely review your progress until the skin has recovered.

Results from laser skin resurfacing are noticeable by day 3 or 4 when the superficial tissue has peeled off, leaving fresh, new, healthy skin underneath. Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment. The results are expected to be long term and will last as long as a good skin regime is maintained. This makes the pearl laser an excellent treatment option for those wanting laser scar removal in Perth with fast results that last.
