The Ins, Outs And UPs Of A Thread Lift

A Thread Lift is a hugely popular way to achieve a beautiful, non-surgical face-lift. If you have ever wondered how this works and what to expect, we have all the information you need right here.

What is a ‘thread’?

A thread is a suture, and for a lift, it is used under the skin. Here at The Lime Tree Clinic we use medical grade sutures that are biocompatible and will naturally be reabsorbed over time.

Thread Lift

How does a thread ‘lift’ my skin?

Each thread has tiny cones or barbs along its length. Once the thread is inserted under your skin, the tissue is gently adjusted by the Doctor, allowing the skin to hold the barbs and reposition into the higher, lifted position.

Who can get a thread lift?

A thread lift can be used to reverse the aging of your skin. Anyone with sagging skin with a desire to reclaim the natural contours of your face and other areas, may benefit from a thread lift. At The Lime Tree Clinic every client has a consultation with the doctor, to assess your skin and discuss your desired results. Treatments are tailored to meet those needs and depending on the size of the area to treat and expected results, multiple threads may be used in one place.

What happens during a thread lift?

After your consultation, the points where threads will be inserted and the direction of the lift will be marked on your skin. The area will also be cleansed as well. The doctor will then insert the threads and reshape the areas being lifted.

A thread lift will take between 30 minutes and two hours, depending on the amount of threads.

What part of my body would benefit from a thread lift?

Thread lifts are very effective for your face – lift your brow line, jowl-lines and reshape your nose. Lift sagging cheeks to make them fuller and decrease the labial-nasal fold. Reclaim a lost jawline from sagging skin and rejuvenate your neck. Thread lifts can also be applied to arms, breasts, buttocks and legs. All can get an uplift!

What happens after the treatment?

The Lime Tree Clinic will keep monitoring your treatment and health, after completion. Some swelling and bruising may occur in the days after the treatment but will resolve on its own within one to two weeks. We recommend you do not do any strenuous activity in the week after your treatment and avoid getting too much sun. We will give you all the information you need to keep your treatment sites healthy.
